Kitchen Machiya is our interpretation of a Japanese cafe that serves everyday Japanese western favorites with a creative twist.

Machiya is the name of traditional Japanese townhouses found throughout Kyoto and some of the best curry rice/omu rice we have ever tasted came from little kissaten that occupy these buildings. Thus we decided to name our stall after these houses, hoping to deliver the same experience here at Turf city.

One of the best sellers on the menu are our premium seafood croissants that come in various flavors like fresh lobster, Hokkaido scallop and snow crab – it is our creative twist on the lobster rolls, and we decided to use the more buttery croissant as it gives the flavors a different dimension. Everything from the bread to the sauces are handmade.

Another highlight on the menu is our dress omu rice, it is different from the other omu rice on the market which is just rice with omelette. We cook our eggs to every order and the shape resembles a dress draping downwards to wrap the rice. Customers can choose to have it with curry, tomato or demi glacé sauce, and they also have the option to change the rice between our shoyu kombu flavor and the tomato herb rice.
